The Colorado Kid Adventure Bucket List
Our family runs on fresh air. Here's a year of little-kid adventures — check them off together, one muddy, magical outing at a time. (Works anywhere with seasons, not just Colorado.)
🌸 Spring
- ☐ Splash in the season's first puddle
- ☐ Find 5 signs that spring is here
- ☐ Plant one thing and watch it grow
- ☐ Fly a kite on a windy hill
- ☐ Hunt for bugs under a log
☀️ Summer
- ☐ Learn to cast a fishing rod at the lake
- ☐ Camp — even if it's the backyard
- ☐ Skip rocks / build a dam in a creek
- ☐ Watch a sunset all the way down
- ☐ Roast marshmallows + tell a silly story
🍂 Fall
- ☐ Crunch through the biggest leaf pile
- ☐ Hike to see the aspens turn gold
- ☐ Collect pinecones for a "nature bowl"
- ☐ Pick apples or pumpkins
- ☐ First campfire in a cozy sweater
❄️ Winter
- ☐ Catch snowflakes on your tongue
- ☐ Sled the same hill 100 times
- ☐ Build a snow fort (or a very small snowman)
- ☐ Make animal tracks in fresh snow
- ☐ Come home to cocoa + dry socks
The always-pack-it list
- Layers + a spare set of everything. Wet kid = adventure over. Dry socks save the day.
- Snacks. More snacks. Then water. A hungry 4-year-old on a trail is a whole weather system.
- Let them lead (a little) + go slow. The adventure IS the slow. Poke the mud. Watch the ant. That's the memory.
